Gen Samten Kelsang
Gen Samten Kelsang is an ordained Buddhist monk and is the Resident Teacher of Kadampa Meditation Center New York. He has been studying and practicing Buddhism for over thirty years and is one of Geshe Kelsang Gyatso’s most senior students.
Before coming to KMC New York in Fall 2008, Gen Samten taught for many years in the United Kingdom, including at Manjushri KMC and also engaged in focused meditation retreat at Tharpaland. He is regularly invited to give teachings and guide meditations at Kadampa Buddhist Centers throughout the United States and world.
At KMC New York, he teaches students of all levels of interest, including Teacher Training Program, Foundation Program, drop-in weekly classes and day and weekend courses at the Temple. He also gives public talks around the tri-state area. Gen Samten is well-known for his inspiring, clear and practical way of presenting Buddha’s teachings and meditation.
