Every parent wants their child to be happy, healthy and successful in life. Meditation is a perfect tool to introduce into a child’s day to promote inner strength and mental and emotional well-being. In these monthly classes, children will learn simple meditations and other methods to calm their minds and ways to deal with negative feelings. Classes include a short discussion about everyday experiences relevant to children, guided meditation, and fun activities that foster habits such as kindness cooperation, patience and giving. For ages 4-12.

Drop-in at any time. No need to pre-register. $2 per child. We are a non-profit organization. All profits go towards supporting the International Temples Project for World Peace.

While children are in their class, adults are welcome to join us for Prayers for World Peace which happens concurrently in the World Peace Temple.

Meditation for Kids is held in the Main House Meditation Room at Kadampa Meditation Center New York. 47 Sweeney Road Glen Spey, NY 12737. Click here for directions.

Class Structure
 

Parents will drop their children at the Main House and sign them in. At that time they can pay ($2 per child) and the make their way to the Temple for the Prayers for World Peace class. At the end of the class, they can retrieve their child at the same location they were dropped.

We begin each session by learning each others’ names and playing a game or two to get more comfortable.
The Teacher presents a few methods to help each child calm their mind and gain simple tools to deal with negative feelings. Classes also include a short discussion about everyday experiences relevant to children.
The group will be led in a short guided breathing meditation. This gives each child an opportunity to practice training in self-control, both inside and out – in their thoughts and physical actions. Meditations are no longer than 10 minutes. No previous experience is necessary.
To conclude, the group will enjoy either individual or group projects that helps to solidify their take-a-way from the class.
