Desire: A Healthy Perspective

In this workshop, we will learn to distinguish love from attachment can save us from immense heartache and lead us to finding great meaning and joy in our lives.

For most of us, our love is a mixture of two things – attachment, which is not in fact love at all, and love, which is. Attachment stands in horrible contrast to all types of love, but to begin with it can be quite hard for us to tell them apart. It is one of Buddha’s great kindnesses that he distinguishes between them so clearly.

No experience is necessary.

Community Lunch

Stay on for an optional vegetarian lunch with our community. Cost $5. Gluten-free and vegan options are often available, but not guaranteed.

What to Expect?

  • Guided Meditation

    Be guided in a short breathing meditation and connect to an experience of inner peace. No prior experience is necessary.

  • Short Talk

    Every course provides fundamental instruction on how to meditate as well. It also highlights one aspect of Dharma, or Buddha’s teachings, which focus on solutions to problems in daily life, inducing genuine optimism and increased happiness.

  • Enjoy a Break

    Enjoy meeting new people b on the break. Hit the café and browse the bookstore.

  • Session 2

    We review what was learned in the first session, meditate and discuss how we can integrate meditation in our daily life.

  • Q&A

    At the end of the course, there is time for questions & answers. All advice is given as suggestions to improve personal understanding of the teachings and to provide examples of how to apply the teachings to daily life.

  • Stay on for Lunch

    After the class, enjoy a home-style vegetarian meal with the residential community at the Temple and with those who attended the course. Meals are $5 and must be booked in advance.
