The Benefits
of Meditation

inner peace

You can relax and enjoy a peaceful mind through meditation practice.

positive attitude in life

Simply by being around like-minded people who are learning to improve their mind, you naturally find your personal view of life more optimistic.

a good heart

Your relationships improve by learning to genuinely care for others.

Your mind will become lucid and clear which will improve your physical and mental health.

You will learn to identify, reduce and eliminate states of mind that lead to suffering. You will also learn how to cultivate positive states of mind that lead to happiness.

pure happiness

Your wishes will be fulfilled, and you can then naturally inspire others.

The benefits of meditation are immeasurable.
Through practicing meditation we can develop and maintain a peaceful mind all the time. If our mind is peaceful all the time, we will be happy all the time.
Meditation is a scientific method to transform human nature from bad to good. Everybody needs to be good natured with a good heart. This is the real method to solve our own inner problems and is also the real method to benefit others practically.
You do not need to have experience in meditation or be a Buddhist to attend. The meditation classes we offer are suitable for all individuals, whatever their level of interest – from those who seek simple relaxation and stress relief, to those who wish to learn about Modern Buddhism. Everyone is welcome!
Classes at the Temple are very accessible. You do not need to bring any mats or wear any special clothing. Both chairs and cushions are available at the Temple, so you can sit wherever you’re most comfortable. There is no physical exercise, yoga, or stretching involved. When entering the meditation room, it is traditional to take off shoes and hats. Also, when the Teacher enters, we normally stand out of respect for Buddha’s teachings.
A typical class consists of a simple relaxation meditation, teaching, a meditation based on the teaching, and discussion and Q&A. The meditations are guided and are suitable for beginners and experienced practitioners alike.
For those students who want to deepen their experience of Buddhism, Geshe Kelsang Gyatso designed the Foundation Program (FP). FP allows us to become more deeply familiar with Buddhist teachings by systematically studying one of five texts on the FP curriculum.
