Catskill Getaway Weekend & Thanksgiving Feast with Gen Samten Kelsang
November 28 – December 1 | Registration Now Open
Our Thanksgiving weekend getaway with Gen Samten will start with our Thanksgiving Feast — the holiday version of our popular Food for Thought event.
On Friday night, we invite the public to join in an inspiring Free Public Talk entitled Live with Love, Speak with Kindness.
Our Saturday morning workshop, Digital Detox, is a day of reflection, connection, and rejuvenation, and a first step towards a healthier, more intentional relationship with technology.
On Sunday, set a peaceful tone for your return by coming to our Prayers for World Peace class with Sara Wendt. You can book all three for a complete retreat, along with accommodations, or come for any part of the weekend!
THURSDAY FOOD FOR THOUGHT
Finding Peace Within
We cannot always control what is around us. BUT, we can learn to control our mind and, eventually, always find peace. Learning to focus on what we CAN influence and leave what is beyond our control is crucial to our happiness. We can train in peace, and if we want a peaceful world it starts with the development of our own, peaceful mind. In this special talk, Gen Samten will give some practical tools to let go of anxiety and worry and replace it with positive, peaceful minds. As a result, we will feel empowered to bring these strategies into our life.
FRIDAY PUBLIC TALK:
Live with Love, Speak with Kindness
Embrace love as the foundation of your life. True happiness stems from compassion and understanding. By living with love, we create a ripple effect that touches every person we encounter, fostering a world of peace and harmony. Speaking with kindness is equally powerful; our words have the ability to heal, uplift, and inspire. In a world often filled with harshness and negativity, choosing love and kindness can transform not only our own lives but also the lives of those around us. Let us be the change we wish to see by living with love and speaking with kindness every day.
SATURDAY WORKSHOP:
Digital Detox
In today's fast-paced, technology-driven world, finding balance can be a challenge. Our half-day workshop, Digital Detox, offers a sanctuary from the constant barrage of notifications and screens. This transformative experience is designed to help you develop a healthier relationship with your digital devices, ensuring you reclaim time for what truly matters. Through focused meditations and practical, insightful guidance, you'll discover how to integrate mindfulness into your daily routine, leading to a more fulfilling and balanced life.
The course delves into the philosophy and psychology behind our attachment to digital devices. You'll explore the underlying reasons for our constant connectivity and learn strategies to manage this relationship more mindfully. Gen Samten will share valuable insights and techniques that will empower you to set boundaries, reduce screen time, and enhance your overall well-being. By understanding the impact of digital overload on your mental and emotional health, you'll be better equipped to make conscious choices that prioritize your quality of life.
In addition to theoretical knowledge, Digital Detox provides hands-on, practical life hacks to help you implement these changes immediately. From simple adjustments in your daily habits to more profound shifts in your mindset, you'll leave the workshop with a toolkit of strategies to maintain a balanced digital life.
Join us for a day of reflection, connection, and rejuvenation, and take the first step towards a healthier, more intentional relationship with technology. Your journey to a more mindful and enriched life begins here.
