Refuge Preliminary Guide Retreat
with Gen Samten Kelsang
March 14 – 19 | Registration Open
Refuge practice is the very essence of Buddhism. It is the gateway to enter into Buddhism and make progress on the spiritual path to enlightenment. Going for refuge means relying on the Three Jewels– Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha. Buddha is the source of all teachings and blessings; Dharma is the realization of Buddha’s teachings; and Sangha is the pure Dharma practitioners who help us with our spiritual practice. Dharma is like medicine that heals us from our suffering, Buddha is the doctor who gives us this medicine, and the Sangha are the nurses who assist us. Learning how to rely on these Three Jewels is the firm foundation that will support the rest of our spiritual growth and development, and is a source of lasting happiness in our life.
This retreat will provide a unique opportunity to train in mantra recitation related to the preliminary guide of going for refuge. This allows us to deepen our refuge practice in a systematic way, so it can continue to nourish us far into the future. Everyone is welcome!
